At Scholes School, we take part in many different sporting activities throughout the year, both competitive and non-competitive.
We have had many successes over the years, including some very good results at The Neiley Races, Swimming Galas, Kwik Cricket and Mini Tennis Tournaments.

Y3 & Y4 Girls Football 24 May 2022
Well done to our year 3/4 Girl’s football team who did so incredibly well at last nights tournament. Having won the league they unfortunately lost in the final but I could not be prouder of all of them. You all had big smiles on your faces, encouraged one another and worked well as a team.
2 girls have already told me they want to join football teams out of school. Brilliant!
KS2 Cricket 19 May 2022

A big thank you and well done to our KS2 Cricket teams who have had a wonderful day down at Holmfirth Cricket Club. You all did so well, encouraged one another and improved so much over the day.
A big thank you to Ash and Richard for helping out with the teams.
Combining all three teams results we won an impressive 15 out of 21 games!

Neiley Races

After round one of Neiley Races our teams are in the following positions;
3/4 Girls - 1st!
3/4 Boys - 2nd!
5/6 Girls - 3rd!
5/6 Boys - 2nd!
This is out of nearly 40 schools who have entered so a fantastic achievement.
It is a team event and we are doing so well as we have so many competitors!
All of you have contributed no matter where you finished. Well done all!!
Busy week for sport!
The Y4 football team did so well last night (Thurs 5 May 22), finishing an impressive 2nd out of the whole pyramid. Great effort, determination and sportsmanship.
You represented us all so well.
A massive “Well done” to everyone who took part in the yesterday’s (Tues 3 May 22) Cross Country at Leeds Road Playing Fields. A great combination of teamwork, determination and talent. You were all amazing!! (Mrs Cotton).
Special mention too to Isla R who finished a mightily impressive 6th in the Year 6 girls’ race and congratulations to our Y3 Girls who took part – Gracie C, Nancy S, Ophelia R and Beatrice W.
Congratulations also to everyone who took part last night (Wed 4 May 22) in the first event of the Neiley Races.
Congratulations to Jack B Y6 . He and a group of adults walked the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 April to raise money for Eden.

Georgia C Y5 has recently taken part in her first Ice Skating competition in Sheffield , coming third in the Silver category.

Lily H has qualified, taking herself and Scholes J&I School through to the British Schools Championships on 12 March.
It was a tough competition with some fantastic girls and Lily qualified in 5th place.

Lily H Y5 competed in the British Schools Championships final on Saturday, finishing a very respectable 8th in the country. doing both the school and herself proud. She has also qualified at a much higher level in Regionals last weekend meaning if she qualifies in June, she will represent Yorkshire in September. She is also taking part in a number of National League Competitions throughout the year.

Lily H in Y5 took part in the Yorkshire Schools Trampolining Championships on 27 November. She did so well that she became the Yorkshire Schools Champion. This meant that she has qualified for the Northern Zonal Schools Trampolining Competition on Sunday 6 February. If successful in qualifying from here (she needs to place in the top 5) then it’s off to the British Schools final.
